Fairfield Industries is a full-service geophysical company operating worldwide with headquarters in Sugar Land, Texas — a suburb of Houston. We are known worldwide for our development and use of advanced technology for seismic data acquisition and data processing. Our hardware, software and people resources provide the oil and gas industry with risk-reducing solutions to solve challenging exploration and production problems.
We are driven to maintain and exceed our reputation as one of the most dynamic, forward-thinking, full-service geophysical companies in the world. Our hardware and software capabilities — coupled with our worldwide experience in marine streamer, shallow water, transition zone and land seismic data analysis and processing — enable us to provide the highest-quality geophysical services on time and within budget.
Our Expertise
Fairfield specializes in acquisition and processing, including:
- Designing and manufacturing seismic acquisition systems
- Operating exploration crews
- Processing a wide variety of seismic data
Our primary business is the licensing of 3-D, non-exclusive seismic data from our database of more than 48,000 square kilometers from the Gulf of Mexico.
Corporate Philosophy
Incorporated in 1976, we have consistently met the demands of the ever-changing geophysical industry and continue to thrive in a shrinking competitive marketplace. As a privately held company, our focus on long-term goals has produced a successful business model, as demonstrated by our continued survival and profitability.
Our philosophy is to grow from within. The acquisition of Golden Geophysical in 1987 was our largest expansion, creating a full-service geophysical company. We are careful in controlling the pace of our growth, yet aggressive in our development of technology.
Our History
Our first 2D transition zone program began in Louisiana in 1976. We introduced our first, non-exclusive 3D survey in 1989, and licenses have been granted to more than 125 exploration and production companies operating across the Gulf of Mexico shallow water/transition zone areas. We acquire all data using seismic recording systems designed and built at our own manufacturing facility in Houston.
Continuous Research and Development
Fairfield’s high-performance networking and workstation cluster technology supports our continuous research and development efforts in the next generation of processing algorithms. These advancements ensure more accurate and efficient seismic imaging. We also develop and utilize sophisticated software and hardware configurations to image the earth’s subsurface for accurate geologic interpretation. Ever-increasing computational demands drive our future development in seismic computing to exploit the benefits of high-speed, mass-produced microprocessor technology in an evolving supercomputing environment.
